Stephanie and Stan – Montauk Yacht Club – Montauk, NY

Stephanie & Stan

Venue : Montauk Yacht Club

Favorite part of the wedding:

“The ceremony for sure! We wrote the ceremony and vows ourselves and Stan’s sister (Catherine) married us. Stan and I walked down the aisle together which was symbolic of us coming into the marriage together, as a partnership. The ceremony was very personal and extremely meaningful to us. Catherine did an amazing job, the weather was gorgeous and the ceremony was absolutely incredible. As you can see in the pictures, we were smiling and laughing throughout the ceremony because we were having so much fun. “

“We met while working together at Mount Sinai Hospital in 2006. Stan was an intern and I had just started at working there as a social worker. We stayed friends but didn’t start dating until the summer of 2010, after bumping into each other on the street while I was walking my dog, Casey. He fell for Casey first, then me;)  “

The Promise Walk for Preclampsia – Brooklyn Bridge Park, NY / June 22, 2013 – Please Donate!

So its been quite a year so far… The wedding season started in April and in May my Daughter Rowan turned 2..

After this past anniversary of her Birthday I thought about the rare “pregnancy disease” Preclampsia that I had developed while pregnant with Rowan in 2011.

My Pregancy from 2010-2011 was perfectly normal up until the last month and I was perfectly healthy. Without hardly any signs I was admitted to the hospital April of 2011 to give birth 7 weeks  early for extremely high blood pressure.  What I found out hours later was that I was suffering from severe preclampsia and my body was  breaking down and rejecting the baby.  The only symptoms I had in the previous weeks  were swelling of the feet and weight gain which is of course can be considered normal in pregnancy.

My blood pressure grew to the point of seizure levels as I was admitted into the hospital right away and treated, within 4 days Rowan was born  at 3lbs and had to be admitted into the NICU for 7 weeks. We were both cured of Preclampsia and High Blood pressure  after her birth.

Doctors do not know what causes Preclampsia, however with education and research they are getting closer and closer to a cure. In Feburary of 2012 I particpated at the University of Vermont government funded research program in the study of Preclampsia. I want to do whatever I can to help the research and prevention of this disease.

This year I decided with my friends and Family to participate in June 22, 2013 fundraiser  walk for Preclampsia research and awareness over the Brooklyn Bridge this upcoming Saturday.

For this cause I will be  donating 5% of every booking in the months of May and June this year.

I hope you to  can donate towards this cause! Please click on the photo to donate today.

Sarah and Brian – Old Field Club – Setauket, NY

Thanks to  Sarah for all your wonderful  details.. wait until you see this post everyone!! Lots of details…THANK you to Alison Nichols as my 2nd photographer and Nessa for  for helping me out with this wedding day ..we had a blast!
… The photos tell the story…
Details from the Bride-
I think my favorite part was when I first saw Brian at the lighthouse… I grew up on that street and it was very full circle to get to have my childhood memories from the lighthouse and then have my wedding photos taken there. I was so stressed out before we got there but once I saw him I was immediately calm and so happy. My favorite shot of that moment is the one where his back is to the camera and I am smiling with my chin sort of on his shoulder!  It shows the joy I was feeling and it’s so us… for him to kind of hide in our embrace like that.
 Vendors/attire/general love for the day:
–Obviously the wonderfully talented Laura Ryan and her crew! We couldn’t have dreamed up a more talented artist to work with!
–The Ronald Reagans were our outstanding band. I went to Middle School and High School with lead singer Rebecca Maas and we just love seeing them play all around NYC. They brought a very special feeling of fun, excitement, and love to our wedding. We love everything about them. Though they are known for rocking out to mainly 80′s music, they were so flexible about adding anything else we wanted to hear and dance to! ( AWESOME BAND)
–The Old Field Club was fabulous. Having that “rustic chic”  theme we wanted went perfectly at that location. It was small (well, for an Irish wedding lol) and intimate without being cramped. The mantle and fireplace area is beautiful. The wood beams and high ceiling is so gorgeous with the chandeliers. The food was fantastic! The view was stunning! Ben, the coordinator at the Old Field Club made everything run smoothly. I felt so comfortable and at ease knowing he would take care of any last minute details we might have overlooked.
–My wedding dress is by Pronovias, and Brian’s tux is Vera Wang.
–All our little “extras” like the signs, gift card holder, etc. were bought on etsy– I highly recommend TRUECONNECTION. They made our wooden table number signs and the wooden “wedding” sign with the hand painted arrow. I love that sign!
–Louise Mercer was our incredible florist… She is so talented and wonderful to work with. Her bouquets and arrangements of various shades of purples, greens, etc. were to die for. They really made the room look and smell fantastic.
–Danfords Hotel and Marina is where Brian and all the groomsmen got ready. We also stayed there the night of the wedding and it was lovely.

On how they metBrian and I had our first date in the Flatiron district in manhattan where we currently live. That night is one I will never forget… It got so late that we wound up closing a place in Union Square called The Coffee Shop. This particular “hip” diner is open till 5am… Our date lasted nine hours. We talked for hours and it seemed like minutes. At the end of the night the sun was rising and he kissed me. I knew from that first date that we had found something completely incredible and special. We go back to The Coffee Shop every now and then and always remember how much we enjoy just being with each other.

Sarah - Laura Ryan and her fabulous team (second shooter Alison Nichols and assistant Nessa) were by far the most outstanding people to work with on our wedding day. I had obsessively looked at Laura’s work while researching who I could possibly trust with what I consider to be the most important investment in our wedding day. As an art and photography teacher, I know how picky I can be! We were able to meet Laura before the wedding where she told us a little bit about herself and her work. We got to see some finished wedding albums and monopolized her time talking about everything from Depeche Mode to etsy. She is an incredible artist and it is obvious when viewing her outstanding photographs she’s simply the best.

We decided to go with Laura the instant we booked the Old Field Club. She was in contact with me throughout the planning and even wrote out a wedding day time line for me while we discussed where we would be shooting throughout the day…which I can say is priceless because she made me feel comfortable knowing she cared about our wedding and capturing our unforgettable moments.

Now for the day of the wedding! She was so full of energy and passion it made us so happy she was there. She takes control and can direct you during certain points of the day where you want the posed shots, but she also is not intrusive in any way. For the candid shots it feels like she is part of the family…you know she’s there and getting the shots you want, but she just blends in. She is a true professional and I feel so lucky to have been able to have her and her team.

Vermont

Sooo I took a little Vacation to Vermont last week with my Husband. It was wonderful break and even if it required us wandering around and eating really well ( tons of local farm foods) and root beer on tap or fresh milk from a farm that made me a happy woman. We ended up in Burlington, Woodstock and Quechee, Vermont. Burlingtion was a lovely college town and had  amazing food and old diners. We bought chocolate, went record shopping and walked in the snow.

Quechee had wonderful nature and a famous gorge in which we stopped and tried to hike down into, that was soon halted as the path was covered by ice. ( we were literally sliding down the path) One of my favorite stops was VINS   - Vermont Institute of Natural Sciences. I love learning about nature, we literally spent 2 hours here learning about different types of birds, raptors and owls. There was a really awesome trail and a huge part of land just dedicated to hiking. I loved seeing a bald eagle within 3 feet in front of me! We had lunch at the famous Simon Pearce restaurant and got to watch glass blowers in the basement. ( you can see the pic I took of the glass molds below)

We visited many local farms and bought tons of extra sharp aged cheddar, cider and even more root beer. We found a cool little road at the bottom of the gorge in Quechee near some fishing holes to take photos….  4 days of fun ! Check out my Instagram feed to see more pics, honestly I did take a lot of photos on my phone.
